- Dashboard Data Shows Weekly Case Increases Statewide, Multiple Counties with High Percent-Positives: Governor Tom Wolf released a weekly status update detailing the state’s mitigation efforts based on the COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard comparing the seven-day period of July 17 – July 23 to the previous seven days, July 10 – July 16. The dashboard is designed to provide early warning signs of factors that affect the state’s mitigation efforts. The data available on the dashboard includes week-over-week case differences, incidence rates, test percent-positivity, and rates of hospitalizations, ventilations and emergency room visits tied to COVID-19. - There are 583 past or present hospitalizations (+2). In the newest cases (tested July 9 through July 26), ages range from 2 to 101 years with the median age being 45.
- 14 of 69 county eateries have violations in first round of inspections: The Allegheny County COVID-19 Field Response Team found 14 restaurants with at least one personal coronavirus safety violation during its first round of inspections on Thursday. The alleged violations potentially exposed a total of 5,857 workers in the region, according to the complaints. - Phase 3 clinical trial of investigational vaccine for COVID-19 begins: A Phase 3 clinical trial designed to evaluate if an investigational vaccine can prevent symptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults has begun. The vaccine, known as mRNA-1273, was co-developed by the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based biotechnology company Moderna, Inc., and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. The trial, which will be conducted at U.S. clinical research sites, is expected to enroll approximately 30,000 adult volunteers who do not have COVID-19. - COVID-19 Cases Continue To Surge In States Across The U.S.: For the fifth consecutive day, there were more than 1,000 deaths from the coronavirus in the United States and infections haven’t shown signs of significantly slowing, according to the COVID Tracking Project. More than 145,000 people in the country have died from the virus and more than 4,000,000 people have been infected, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
