March 21, 2020 Update – 3 p.m.
**NOTE THE ALLEGHENY COUNTY UPDATE**
State Update
- Pennsylvania now has 371 confirmed cases;
- Levine indicated that a shelter in place rule is still a possibility;
- As noted previously but bears repeating, Gov. Wolf’s order to shutdown certain business operations will be enforced beginning at 8am Monday (3/23/20) morning;
- Levine noted that “the most patients seem to be middle-age adults, with seniors next, and young adults next”;
- Levine repeated the message – stay calm, stay home, and stay safe;
- Levine stated that the increase in COVID-19 cases is driven not only by increased testing, but because more people are becoming infected;
County Update

- Allegheny County – 31
- The Allegheny County Health Department announced the first death of an Allegheny County resident today. The Allegheny Conference thoughts and prayers go out to the individual’s family and loved ones.
- Washington County – 5 cases;
- Butler County – 1 (first announced today) case – patient recovering at home;
- Westmoreland County – 4 cases
- Beaver County – 3 cases
Federal Update
- Phase 3 negotiations continue between Senate Republicans and Democrats, but reports are that it could now top $2T;
- POTUS ordered immediate cessation of foreclosures and evictions involving homes with federally-issues mortgages;
- Total US cases of COVID-19 surging to over 21,000;
- 27 States have called up their National Guard units;
– Enforcement of Gov. Wolf’s order is delayed until Monday morning.
