State Update
Gov. Wolf/Sec. Levine Briefing
- Levine – Pa doing a ‘very good job’ of social distancing;
- Levine – 316 state residents have required hospitalization since March 6 – approx.. 11.5% of people who have tested positive.
- 65+ — 49%; 50-64 — 27%; 25-49 – 20%; 19-24 – 2%; 13-18 – 1%; 5-12 – 0%; 0-4 – 1%;
- Total reported cases in Pennsylvania is now 2,751 (56 counties) which is an increase of 533 from yesterday.
- Wolf announced a series of temporary licensing waivers for health care professionals, including: streamlined the process for retired doctors and nurses, medical students, pharmacists, and other health care workers to practice in PA. Pennsylvania has further allowed more out of state practitioners to practice in Pennsylvania and has extended telemedicine options.
- Levine – Of the 3,400 ICU beds in Pennsylvania, a total of 40% are available at this time.
- Levine – Of the 4,000 total ventilators in Pennsylvania, a total of 75% are available at this time.

- President Trump raised the idea of ‘quarantining’ New York, parts of Connecticut, and New Jersey.
- Abbott Labs has announced a new rapid test for COVID-19 that can diagnose a positive result in 5 minutes and negative result in 13 minutes. Beginning with a delivery of 50,000 tests per day.
