State Update

  • Pennsylvania now has 479 cases of COVID-19 spread through 33 counties – up 108 from yesterday. A total of 4,964 have tested negative;
  • DCED has received over 10,000 requests for waiver from Gov. Wolf’s order to close certain operations;
  • DCED hopes to begin sending out waiver notifications this afternoon;
  • Pa Department of Health Secretary Rachel Levine conduced 1pm presser;
  • Levine: there are no plans to close takeout/food delivery services in PA; even with shelter-in-place order, grocery stores and food merchants would continue operations;
  • Philadelphia residents required to shelter in place beginning 8am Monday;
  • Pennsylvania primary election likely to be delayed until June 2 – legislation being worked on in the Pa General Assembly with the Wolf Administration;
  • Levine: very healthy to be outside, enjoy the sunshine, ride a bike, take a walk, play in the yard as long as you maintain 6’ social distancing;

Local Update

  • MSA is working with Highmark and AHN to distribute 65,000 N95 masks to Pittsburgh hospitals, first responders, and health care community;
  • Fayette County announced first case of positive COVID-19;

Federal Update

  • Negotiations continue on phase 3 legislation. Speaker Pelosi intends to introduce a new House Democratic version of the legislation
  • Latest reports are that phase 3 will include a one-time $3,000 payment for families and $4T of liquidity to support national economy;
  • Expected cloture vote imminent to bring the phase 3 bill to the floor – many objections being raised by Senate Democrats and House leadership;
