- Gov. Wolf: Sec. of Health Signs Expanded Mask-Wearing Order: Expanding on the business safety ordersigned by Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine in April that requires the wearing of masks in businesses, Governor Tom Wolf announced a new order signed by Dr. Levine that takes the mask-wearing directive one step further. - Reopening Phase Orders Updated to Include Last County Moving to Green on July 3: Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine signed amended green phase orders for the last Pennsylvania county to move to green. - State Assistance Available When Federal $600 Weekly Unemployment Benefit Ends July 25: The Departments of Labor & Industry (L&I) and Human Services (DHS) are reminding Pennsylvanians that state assistance is available when the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC)program, which provides an extra $600 per week to everyone receiving unemployment benefit payments, ends July 25, 2020. Under federal guidelines, the week ending Saturday, July 25, 2020, will be the final claim week for the additional $600 payments. - Gov. Wolf Announces $53 Million in Additional Support for Child Care Providers: Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced a partnership with Summer, a social enterprise, to provide free student loan assistance for all residents during the COVID-19 crisis. - Pennsylvania Arts Organizations Receive $2.3 Million in Pandemic Relief: Governor Tom Wolf announced that 309 nonprofit arts organizations will receive grants totaling $2.3 million to help with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds from the CARES Act support staff salaries, fees for artists or contractual personnel, and facilities costs. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) distributed $1.8 million to 36 organizations that will each receive a $50,000 grant. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), a state agency under the office of the Governor, distributed the remaining $527,000 to 273 organizations that will each receive a $1,930 grant. - Local Officials, Business Owners and Organizations Echo Gov. Wolf’s Call to Mask Up, PA: Governor Tom Wolf’s repeated calls to wear a mask and Sec. of Health Dr. Rachel Levine’s latest order requiring masks to be worn at all times in public, combined with scientific proof that masks help stop the spread of COVID-19, are resonating with local elected officials and business owners and organizations, who today echoed the governor’s directives. Regional Coronavirus Updates
- Allegheny County Department of Health
- Of the 3,775 cases in Allegheny County, 3,595 are confirmed and 180 are probable cases. 423 cases are healthcare workers, which reflects 11% of cases in Allegheny County. Additionally, there are 416 past or present hospitalizations (+4). In the newest cases (tested June 24 through July 5), ages range from 9 months to 95 with the median age being 31. All deaths to date are of individuals ranging in age from 23-103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died.
- On Thursday, July 2, Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen announced a one-week closure of bars, restaurants and casinos, and the cancellation of all activities or events over 25 people for that same one-week time period. Food establishments may still offer take-out and delivery during that time period. The order became effective on July 3, 2020 at 12:01 AM and lasts until Friday, July 10 at 12:00am.

- According to CNN, as of 2:30pm on Monday, July 6, 2020, there are 130,080 coronavirus-related deaths and 2,908,164 total positive cases in the United States.
- States Shatter Coronavirus Records As Officials Eye Holiday Weekend With Alarm: On Saturday, just as residents across the country celebrated the holiday, state authorities once more reported a record-breaking number of new coronavirus cases. Florida and South Carolina on Saturday both reported passing their previous single-day highs, while Alabama, Texas and a slew of others continued to reel from recent records of their own.
