- Wolf: Mental Health Support is Vital and Available Amid Strain of COVID-19 Pandemic: Governor Tom Wolf has made mental health access a priority during his tenure, in January introducing Reach Out PA: Your Mental Health Matters, an initiative to remove barriers to mental health care and reduce stigma. At a daily briefing on Friday April 24 on the commonwealth’s work to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor highlighted that the need for accessible mental health services is greater than ever. - CORRECTION: Wolf Administration Announces Housing and Transportation Funding for Pennsylvania Communities: Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin announced new funding assistance for community development and affordable housing activities to address the COVID-19 pandemic under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. “COVID-19 has had a major impact on communities across Pennsylvania, and this funding will serve as a critical resource for Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable residents,” said Sec. - As of 12 am Friday April 24, there are 1,599 new positive cases; 38,652 positive cases now statewide in all 67 counties.
- 2,160 are healthcare workers tested positive who tested positive are in 418 nursing homes and/or long-term living facilities in counties
- 2,746 have been hospitalized; 662 of those hospitalized require the use of a ventilator or breathing machine
- As of 12 pm Friday April 24, 47% hospital beds, 40 % ICU beds and 70% ventilators are still available
- 1,492 deaths are adults who tested positive.
Federal Coronavirus Updates
- White House
President Trump on Friday April 24 signed legislation providing $484 billion to replenish a popular small business lending program and support hospitals and COVID-19 testing amid the coronavirus pandemic. The measure includes an additional $310 billion in funding for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), $60 billion of which is reserved for community banks and small lenders; $75 billion for hospitals; $25 billion to support testing efforts; and $60 billion for emergency disaster loans and grants.
