- As of 12 am Thursday, April 16, there are 1,245 new positive cases; 27,735 positive cases now statewide in all 67 counties
- 1,401 are healthcare workers tested positive
- 2,503 have been hospitalized or 10% of total cases; 664 of those hospitalized require the use of a ventilator or breathing machine
- As of 12 pm Thursday, April 16, 41% hospital beds, 37% ICU beds and 70% ventilators are still available
- 707 deaths are adults who tested positive
- Community Leaders and Industry Experts Volunteer for PA COVID-19 Small and Small Diverse Business and Community Taskforce: As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to shutter businesses and endanger vulnerable populations, business and civic leaders throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have pooled their expertise to form the COVID-19 Small and Small Diverse Business and Community Taskforce (2SDB&C Taskforce). The 2SDB&C Taskforce was organized to facilitate opportunities for small and small minority-owned businesses to work with state, local and federal government in providing aid to local communities with a focus on the most underrepresented and affected members such as elderly, disabled, economically disadvantaged and homeless Pennsylvanians. Regional Coronavirus Updates

- Mayor Peduto spoke today Thursday, April 16 about the Coronavirus one month after declaring a state of emergency and limiting public gatherings. He said Allegheny County will protect homeless residents by install handwashing stations and portable water in encampments and securing hotel rooms if any of the county’s homeless developed COVID-19 symptoms. The mayor also mentioned the collaboration with nonprofit partners to reach undocumented Americans and help them access health care and financial support. He also addressed law enforcement work tackling domestic violence in the city.

- Front line health care workers at Allegheny Health Network have begun using sophisticated face masks to improve protection from the new coronavirus. Staff in the intensive care units, emergency department and other areas of system hospitals have begun using P100 face masks, which filter nearly 100% of airborne particles that carry the risk of COVID-19. The P100 masks are industrial grade respirators and can be disinfected and reused repeatedly. AHN acquired the masks from MSA Safety, a Butler County-based company that makes protective gear. The health care system received its first shipment of 4,000 of the new respirators and is distributing them to AHN hospitals.

- Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said he backed Gov. Tom Wolf and the Pennsylvania Department of Health amid early plans locally and at the state level to begin reopening a large part of Pennsylvania that has been shuttered due to COVID-19. “We want to continue to work together and follow the governor’s leadership. I think he’s put out a plan that has been very impactful in bending the curve,” Fitzgerald said Wednesday April 15th afternoon during a news conference.
