State Coronavirus Updates
- COVID-19 Working Capital Access Program
- State officials announced Sunday April 26, that 160 Pennsylvania businesses have received $13.5 million in funding to help during the coronavirus pandemic. Officials with the state Department of Community and Economic Development said Sunday this is the second round of funding from the COVID-19 Working Capital Access Program, which has now awarded more than $23 million to a number of diverse businesses like restaurants, wellness centers, wineries and breweries, consulting firms, and salons and spas.
- Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
- The public can access trails, lakes, roads, and parking for passive and dispersed recreation, such as hiking; however, all facilities at state parks and forests in Pennsylvania will be closed until May 8, 2020. Closed facilities include park/forest offices and visitor centers; restrooms; campgrounds, cabins, and all forms of overnight accommodations, including the Nature Inn. Public programs, events, and trainings are canceled.
Regional Coronavirus Updates
- Allegheny County
- Allegheny County on Sunday April 26th reported no new COVID-19 deaths and 13 new cases, bringing the updated sum since the first instance was reported on March 14 to 73 total deaths and 1,211 cases. The 1,211 cases includes 1,177 confirmed cases and 34 probable cases. A case is probable when the person displays symptoms of COVID-19 and has had close contact with a confirmed positive case but has not had a positive test themselves. Of the 1,211 cases, there are 213 past or present hospitalizations
Federal Coronavirus Updates
- FEMA
- FEMA awarded grants to fund crisis counseling services for residents struggling with stress and anxiety as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training program is funded by FEMA and overseen by FEMA in coordination with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The program assists individuals and communities in recovering from the psychological effects of natural and human caused disasters through community-based outreach and educational services. To date, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Washington have received crisis counseling service grants.
National Coronavirus Updates
- According to CNN, as of 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2020, there are 54,480 coronavirus-related deaths and 943,865 total positive cases in the United States.
- Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Saturday April 25 that the U.S. should at least double coronavirus testing before easing to reopening the economy. The U.S. now churns through about 1.5million to 2 million tests per week.
