World Environment Day Highlights the Pittsburgh Region's Green Strengths

World Environment Day
The Pittsburgh region has been in the global spotlight again as the North American Host City for World Environment Day (WED). The United Nations chose Pittsburgh for the honor because of its now well-known story of economic, environmental and quality of life transformation. Six weeks of widespread green education and activities linking Earth Day (April 23) to World Environment Day (June 5) recently culminated in the daylong Water Matters! Global Water Conference and the successful attempt for Pittsburgh to break a Guinness World Record. The PRA hosted a group of visiting media in town for Water Matters! for a river cruise tour to discover more about our region's sustainable strengths – from green building to brownfield redevelopment.
