Kate Dewey has more than 35 years of direct experience with a variety of nonprofit organizations, foundations, public agencies and corporations at the local, state and national level. She serves as vice chair of The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania; secretary of the Human Services Center; and, a breast cancer survivor herself, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - Pittsburgh board member.

Leaving indelible imprints on our community, she was the founding director of both the Allegheny County Child Sexual Abuse Task Force, which created protocols and partnerships that are still in place today, and Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania, a thriving regional philanthropic force. Embodying the ATHENA Award’s core principle of mentorship, she consistently reaches out to people of all kinds – be they area newcomers, career professionals on the rise, victims of abuse or women recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
